My first ATA event was the Dad and Me Fathers Day event at Avon Lake ATA. At that time, I weighed 300 lbs and was in deplorable shape. At the behest of my children (who were already members) I entered ATA as a White Belt. I added TKD as part of my diet and exercise, and I've lost 80 lbs!
